CASTLE TRAVEL GUIDE

Windsor Castle

Located in the historic town of Windsor, Windsor Castle is the world’s oldest and largest occupied castle and one of the official residences of the British monarch. Founded by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, it beautifully combines centuries of royal history, exquisite architecture, and priceless art collections. Visitors can explore the magnificent State Apartments, the stunning St George’s Chapel, and the picturesque castle grounds — a true glimpse into British royalty.

    Highclere Castle

Located in the rolling hills of Hampshire, Highclere Castle is best known as the filming location of Downton Abbey. This grand Victorian country house, designed by Sir Charles Barry (who also designed the Houses of Parliament), offers an intimate look at English aristocratic life. Visitors can explore the richly furnished State Rooms, the impressive Egyptian Exhibition, and the beautifully landscaped gardens that surround the estate.

      Blenheim Palace

A masterpiece of English Baroque architecture, Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire is the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Surrounded by vast landscaped gardens designed by Capability Brown, the palace is renowned for its grand halls, intricate tapestries, and stunning art collections. It stands as both a family home and a national monument of British history.

        Warwick Castle

Perched on the banks of the River Avon, Warwick Castle dates back to 1068, when it was built by William the Conqueror. Once a formidable medieval fortress, it now brings history to life through immersive exhibitions, live jousting shows, and interactive experiences. Visitors can climb the ancient towers, explore the Great Hall, and enjoy panoramic views over the Warwickshire countryside.

          Chatsworth House

Nestled in the Derbyshire countryside, Chatsworth House has been the seat of the Cavendish family for over 500 years. Known for its elegant architecture and world-class art collection, it features works by Rembrandt, Reynolds, and sculpture by Canova. The vast parkland, cascading fountains, and carefully curated gardens make it one of England’s most romantic and inspiring estates.

            Haddon Hall

Haddon Hall, near Bakewell in Derbyshire, is one of England’s finest examples of a medieval manor house, remarkably preserved through the centuries. With its stone walls, mullioned windows, and Tudor gardens, it offers a timeless atmosphere steeped in romance and history. The hall has also appeared in numerous films, including Jane Eyre and The Princess Bride.
